Bring the whole family for free books, interactive literacy games, prizes, raffles, and fun as we kick off March is Reading Month together. The first 500 attendees will receive complimentary Market Bucks!

March is Reading Month, and we are excited to kick off a fun-filled week as we celebrate Read Across America! Reading opens the door to adventure, imagination, and opportunity, and we are looking forward to inspiring our students to explore stories from all across the United States.
During the week of March 2nd–6th, students are encouraged to read books set in or connected to the 50 states as we “travel” across America through literature. Classes will be competing to see which group can read the most books throughout the week. We can’t wait to see which class earns bragging rights for being our top readers!
In addition to reading, we will celebrate with a special Spirit Week:
Monday – The Departure: Wear your favorite travel wear (sweats, joggers, pajama pants).
Tuesday – State Pride: Wear your school colors or a jersey from a state team.
Wednesday – The Great Outdoors: Wear plaid, flannel, or a sun hat like you’re hiking the trails.
Thursday – Coastal Vibes: Wear sunglasses or anything tropical.
Friday – The Arrival: Dress as a character from a book set in any of the 50 states or a favorite American story.
We are also excited to welcome guest readers throughout the week who will share their love of reading with our students.
We encourage you to support your child by reading together at home and helping them participate in our spirit days. Let’s work together to make this a memorable and motivating month of literacy at Brownell!

Scholars will be off for Winter Break on Friday, February 13 through Monday, February 16. District offices will be closed Monday, February 16 in observance of President’s Day. Scholars and staff will return Tuesday, February 17.
We DO have school today, January 30. We also have our Mid-Year Honors Ceremony. Grades 3, 4, & 5 will be held at 10:00 sharp. Grades K, 1, 2, and Ms. Grubaugh's class will be held at 2 pm sharp.
Please try to arrive a little early and bring your ID (for security purposes) if you plan to attend.
