Our department is committed to providing a comprehensive range of programs and services designed to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Certified and highly qualified psychologists, social workers, speech therapists, occupational therapists and physical therapists conduct thorough and individual evaluations for any scholar with a disability.
Our staff play a pivotal role in directing interventions with students, families, and the educational community. They act as advocates for scholars with special needs, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
The expertise of our school ancillary staff shines through their ability to administer psychological tests, interpret results, and make recommendations regarding eligibility for programs and services. They are instrumental in suggesting interventions and providing ongoing assistance in monitoring progress for both teachers and scholars.
MI-ACCESS, the alternate assessment program developed by the Michigan Department of Education, is implemented to assess scholars with disabilities requiring an alternate assessment and/or accommodation, as determined by their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Our Continuum of Services embraces a variety of programs and settings tailored to meet the individual needs of eligible scholars. With a commitment to inclusivity and support, Flint Community Schools Learning Support Services ensures that every scholar receives the necessary resources and assistance to thrive academically and personally.
